Two people tried to steal from a designer outlet store in Riverhead on Friday but ran out and were nabbed by responding officers, Riverhead Town police said.

Luis Palacios-Garzon and July Beltran, both of Queens, were found in the area of the Tommy Hilfiger Outlet store on Main Street after employees reported the pair had tried to steal clothes that morning, police said.

They were charged with attempted petty larceny, but then investigators determined they were the two who stole merchandise from the store on June 29, police said.

Police charged them also with fourth-degree grand larceny and held them overnight for arraignment Saturday.
