Two Hauppauge men were arrested after trying to fleece a Roslyn Mercedes-Benz dealership, Nassau County police said Friday.

Matthew Gatien, 41, of Gianna Court, and John Crane, 54, of Clifford Boulevard, are scheduled to be arraigned Friday at First District Court in Hempstead, police said.

Gatien is charged with two counts of second-degree grand larceny and each man also is charged with two counts of criminal possession of stolen property, police said.

Gatien purchased two Mercedes-Benz vehicles from Rallye Motors at 1600 Northern Blvd. last Friday. The next day he canceled the cashier checks used to make purchase, causing a loss of over $175,000 to the dealership, police said.

On Thursday, when the two men went to deliver the vehicles for sale to a wholesale dealer on Robbins Lane in Syosset, they were arrested without incident and both cars were recovered, police said.
