Suffolk County police are looking for a driver who hit and injured a man early Saturday morning in Lindenhurst.

Police said they received a call that a 27-year-old Brooklyn man was walking in the northbound lanes of Wellwood Avenue near Herzel Boulevard about 6:15 a.m. Another 911 caller reported five minutes later that the man was lying in the road, police said. An investigation determined that the man had been hit by a vehicle that sped away, police said.

No description of the vehicle was given.

The man was taken to Good Samaritan Hospital Medical Center in West Islip to be treated for broken bones and a head injury.

Police asked anyone with information to call 631-854-8152 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.
