A Medford man was arrested Tuesday and charged with robbing a Port Jefferson Station bank on Friday, Suffolk police said.
Police said Peter Iatauro, 32, has been charged with third-degree robbery in connection with the robbery of the HSBC Bank at 574 Jefferson Shopping Plaza on July 10 by showing a bank teller a demand note. The teller complied with the demand and the suspect fled on foot southbound on Route 112.
He has also been charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance (heroin).
Iatauro is being held overnight at the Sixth Precinct and is scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Central Islip on Wednesday, police said.
