A Medford man was arrested Wednesday after he tried to run over the owner of the Sayville Motor Lodge and then crashed into the motel, police said.

Brian Clark, 36, was charged with leaving the scene of an accident with property damage, driving while intoxicated, aggravated unlicensed operation, third-degree assault, second-degree reckless endangerment and felony criminal mischief, Suffolk County police said.

The incident at the Sunrise Highway motel was reported in a 911 call at 8:46 a.m.

“Several individuals” were at the motel when two males, including Clark, got into an altercation, police said.

Clark punched the unidentified victim in the nose, then “got into a vehicle and attempted to run over” the motel owner, crashing into the building’s office instead, police said.

“The suspect then fled and crashed into a vehicle on the service road” of Sunrise Highway, police said.

A photo from the scene showed a support column outside the motel office knocked down and smashed into the glass office door from the force of the collision.
