Nassau police are looking for a driver who struck a bicyclist in Island Park early Saturday morning and drove off.

Police said the female bicyclist, 31, was riding eastbound on Railroad Avenue at about 2:23 a.m. when she turned right onto Long Beach Road. The woman then fell off her bicycle into the right lane and was struck by an Acura RSX.

The driver drove off southbound, police said. The woman was taken to a local hospital in critical condition with internal injuries.

Police said the vehicle is described as an older model black sedan with two doors, blacked-out taillights and a tinted license plate cover.

Detectives are asking anyone with information about the collision to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 1-800-244-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
