A man was stabbed and his body found in the driveway of a Deer Park home Thursday afternoon, Suffolk police said.

The homeowner found him about 1:30 p.m. half way up her driveway on Old Country Road, but investigators believe he was attacked elsewhere sometime after midnight.

“We believe he made his way there,” said homicide Det. Lt. Kevin Beyrer. “He was stabbed in the chest more than once.”

He then collapsed on the driveway, police said.

Beyrer said the homicide did not appear to be gang-related.

The name of the victim, a young man, was not released as police notified his next of kin, but Beyrer said he was not from Deer Park.

Detectives are looking into what he was doing in the neighborhood.

At night, investigators could be seen going into and out of the house next door. The street was cordoned off and the investigation went on into the night.

Homicide detectives ask anyone with information to call 631-852-6392 or Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS.
