Nassau County police said they are looking for two men who tried to rob a taxi driver in Roosevelt early Saturday.
Dispatchers from New York Taxi called police shortly after 2 a.m. to report one of their drivers was confronted by two men, police said.
The driver picked up a woman at 70 Harts Ave. when one man opened the driver’s side door and pointed a black revolver at him, demanding cash, police said.
A second man pointed another gun at the driver from the back seat. The driver heard a single gunshot as he sped away, authorities said. The man in the back seat jumped out of the car when the taxi drove away. The driver was not hurt, police said.
The 43-year-old taxi driver described both men as young with a thin build and short black hair and wearing dark hooded sweatshirts.
Police are asking anyone with information to call Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
