Nassau County police are investigating an assault that took place in Farmingdale early Sunday morning during which a man was stabbed in the arm after trying to stop a fight.
Police said the incident occurred shortly before 5 a.m. when the victim was walking in the rear parking lot of 293 Main St. and observed two men fighting.
The victim intervened at which time one of the men in the fight ran off and the other then began arguing with the victim. After scratching the victim in the face, the man stabbed the victim in the upper right arm with a kitchen knife and fled on foot north toward Conklin Street, police said.
Police said the victim’s injuries are non-life-threatening.
The suspect is described as 20 to 25 years old, 5-foot-4 with a thin build and brown hair, and was wearing a white shirt, red baseball cap and dark sweater.
