A 45-year-old man was stabbed in the stomach and a 51-year-old man was arrested and charged in the attack Sunday night at a sober house where the two men live in Riverhead, police said.
The victim, George R. Demetriades, was transported by Riverhead Volunteer Ambulance to Peconic Bay Medical Center, where he was treated for an abdominal wound, Riverhead Town police said. His condition was not immediately clear on Monday.
Police said officers arrested another resident of the home, on East Second Avenue. That resident, Philip S. Malette, was charged with one count of second-degree assault and now faces arraignment Monday in Riverhead Town Justice Court, police said.
Police said the stabbing took place at the home and was reported in a 911 call at 9:29 p.m. Sunday. Circumstances surrounding the attack were not immediately clear. Additional details were not available.
