Suffolk County police are looking for the driver

Police are still searching for the hit-and-run driver who killed a Lindenhurst woman last month — the third woman in her family to die in a pedestrian accident in the village in recent years.

Suffolk County police said Tuesday that the vehicle that struck Pauline Aluska on Aug. 14 was a white or light-colored Nissan Xterra, model year 2000 to 2004.

Police have asked anyone with information on the driver to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.

Aluska, 54, was found about 12:20 a.m. on Montauk Highway, near South 13th Street, a block from where her brother, John Aluska, 61, also of Lindenhurst, was killed less than two years earlier.

Both siblings died after they were struck by hit-and-run drivers.

Diane Aluska, 55, the wife of their brother, Kenny Aluska, was killed this past Mother’s Day when a car mounted a sidewalk in Lindenhurst and struck her.

The driver of that car, Ann Riolo, 80, also of Lindenhurst, was not charged, police said.

On Sept. 28, 2015, John Aluska was found on Montauk Highway, just west of Venetian Promenade, about 1:20 a.m., police had said at the time.
