A Roslyn Heights man faces grand larceny and forgery charges after cashing $18,000 in checks he had stolen from his employer, Nassau County police said Wednesday.
Since August, Timothy M. Smith, 39, of Browers Lane, had cashed 42 forged checks from a New Hyde Park dance school, police said.
At about 3 p.m. Tuesday, when Smith attempted to cash another one at a TD Bank at 540 Jericho Tpke., police were notified and responding officers arrested him, according to a news release.
Smith, who police said also had two glassine bags of heroin, is charged with grand larceny, three counts of possession of a forged instrument, criminal possession of stolen property and criminal possession of a controlled substance.
He is scheduled to be arraigned Wednesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
