Shots fired at food deliveryman in Roosevelt, police say

Nassau County police are searching for a suspect they say fired off four rounds while trying to rob a Chinese food delivery driver at gunpoint in Roosevelt on Friday night.

At 8:20 p.m., a man, 49, was parked on Hale Place and about to deliver food when a man opened the passenger side door and displayed a handgun, police said in a news release.

The victim, realizing that a robbery was about to take place, started to drive away, according to police. The suspect then fired four shots and fled on foot, police said.

The victim was not injured, police said. The suspect was described as about 5-foot-7 and wearing a dark-colored hooded sweatshirt and had a dark-colored mask across his face.

Anyone with information about this attempted robbery is asked to call Nassau Crime Stoppers at 800-244-8477. All calls will be kept confidential.
