ShotSpotter in Roosevelt leads cops to shooting, 2 injured

Nassau County police are investigating a shooting in Roosevelt early Sunday morning that injured two men.

Police said a ShotSpotter alert went off at Pennsylvania and West Clinton avenues at 2:13 a.m. While police were at the scene investigating, officers learned that a hospital was treating a gunshot victim. Police said they determined that a 23-year-old man from Central Islip was shot in the arm at the scene. His injuries were described as treatable and not life threatening, police said.

Shortly thereafter, another hospital notified police about a potential second victim from the same shooting. In that case, a 22-year-old man from Hempstead had suffered minor abrasions, possibly from gunshot fragments, police said.

Police said both victims refused to cooperate with the investigation. Detectives are asking anyone with information about the shooting to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-TIPS. All callers will remain anonymous.
