Sidewalk argument in Wantagh escalates, police say

A sidewalk argument in Wantagh last month escalated into a fight and ended with one man requiring stitches on his head, Nassau police said Tuesday.

Detectives released surveillance footage as they asked for the public’s help to identify the four males who kicked a man, 25, on Park Avenue by Beech Street at 3:50 a.m. on Nov. 15.

The victim and his assailants did not know each other, police said, and details on why they argued were not immediately available Tuesday night.

The victim fell and was bruised in the fight, and suffered a cut to his head, police said.

His assailants ran toward the train station, police said.

Police said one suspect appeared to be about 20 years old, had a medium build and short, black, wavy hair, and wore a long-sleeved blue plaid shirt, bluejeans and brown boots. The second suspect appeared to be 18 to 20 years old, had a medium build and wore a white and black knit cap, black sweatshirt, gray sweatpants and sneakers, police said. There was no description on the other two attackers, police said.

Detectives ask anyone with information to contact Nassau County Crime Stoppers at 800-244-TIPS.
