A Springs man was sentenced to 25 years in prison Friday for attempted murder in connection with an attack on his former girlfriend.

Suffolk County Court Judge Timothy Mazzei in Riverhead also ordered Sabas Martinez, 47, to serve 5 years of post-release supervision.

Prosecutors alleged at trial that Martinez beat, stabbed and then shot Noemi Sanchez with an air rifle in her East Hampton home on Feb. 13, 2011.

Sanchez, the mother of the couple’s three daughters, recovered from her wounds after surgery, authorities said.

Martinez was convicted in November of second-degree attempted murder. He had been previously convicted of second-degree assault, criminal possession of a weapon and endangering the welfare of a child.

Attorney Richard Stafford, who represented Martinez, couldn’t be reached for comment.

Mazzei sentenced Martinez to seven years in prison for the assault and other charges. That sentence is to be served concurrently with the maximum 25-year term.
