Subway shop in Wading River robbed twice in week, police say

A Subway restaurant in Wading River was robbed at knifepoint Monday night, the second time in less than a week, and police are looking at whether the two incidents are the work of the same robber.

Riverhead Town police said there is reason to believe the same suspect robbed the store on Route 25A last Wednesday night and again Monday night.

The first robbery occurred about 9 p.m., police said. The robbery Monday occurred at 8:50 p.m. Police said that in both cases two employees were in the store — and no one was injured.

In both cases, the suspect entered the store, displayed a knife and demanded cash from the register.

Police have not released how much was taken in either robbery. Police have reviewed surveillance video, but have not yet released any footage.

Police are asking anyone with information about the robberies to call investigators at 631-727-4500 ext. 312.

All calls will be kept confidential.
