Police are searching for a hit-and-run driver who struck a pedestrian on Montauk Highway in Mastic on May 1.

The pedestrian, a man whose identity was not released, sustained non-life-threatening injuries and was treated at Brookhaven Memorial Hospital Medical Center in East Patchogue, Suffolk County police said. The status of his recovery was not immediately known.

The accident occurred on eastbound Montauk Highway at about 11:50 p.m. that Sunday, police said.

Police have released a surveillance photo of the car — and the suspected driver — and are asking anyone with information to call Crime Stoppers at 800-220-8477.

All calls will remain confidential.

Police said the car is believed to be a white Nissan Altima, probably from the 2002 to 2006 model years, and said it had chrome rims.

Investigators believe it likely sustained “substantial damage” to the passenger-side fender and mirror.
