Detectives are investigating an early morning shooting Tuesday in North Amityville that police said left the victim hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries.

Suffolk County police said the shooting took place outside a home on North Grand Lane at about 1 a.m.

The victim, identified only as a male, was struck in the buttocks, police said.

The victim told police he was seated on his porch outside the home when someone approached — and began firing bullets at him. Police said several shots were fired.

It was not clear if the victim was targeted.

Additional details were not immediately available.
