A homeless man was arrested in a struggle after Nassau County police said they caught him breaking into a North Valley Stream fried chicken restaurant and linked him to several area robberies.

Police said they found Thomas King, 52, standing in the vestibule of the Royal Fried Chicken at 2103 Dutch Broadway after receiving a report of an alarm going off about 3:21 a.m. Friday. The officers ordered King out of the restaurant, but he attempted to flee, police said.

King was arrested after tussling with several officers; and police said he had proceeds from a robbery at another store, Nail Art, at 2103 Dutch Broadway.

They also said he had a laptop bag reported missing on Dec. 26 from Carvel at 174 W. Merrick Rd. in Valley Stream. In that case, police said King entered the ice cream store through a back door and took the bag from an office.

Police charged King with three counts of third-degree burglary, one count of fifth-degree criminal possession of stolen property and resisting arrest.

King was scheduled to be arraigned at First District Court in Hempstead on Saturday.
