Two New Cassel men were charged with beating and then robbing a man in Westbury, Nassau County police said Monday.

According to detectives, the 55-year-old victim was walking westbound on Butler Street when he was approached by Erving Pierre-Louis, 18, of State Street, and Kevin Franklin, 19, of Broadway, at about 1:50 a.m. on Monday.

“The subjects then displayed a knife and began beating the victim about the head and body, knocking him to the ground,” police said in a news release. They then took the man’s cellphone and wallet, which held an undetermined amount of cash, and fled on foot toward Post Avenue.

Third Precinct Officers saw the two suspects on Union Avenue and Sullivan Lane and arrested them.

A knife was found on Union Avenue, police said.

The victim refused medical attention.

Pierre-Louis and Franklin are both charged with three counts of robbery, according to police. Franklin is also being charged with one count of fourth-degree possession of a dangerous weapon.

They are scheduled to be arraigned Tuesday at First District Court in Hempstead.
