A Bayport woman has been charged as the suspect who held up a bank this week while wearing medical tape over her nose, Suffolk police said Tuesday.
Julia Rigby, 45, is expected to be arraigned Wednesday on a third-degree robbery charge, police said.
She entered M&T Bank on Montauk Highway about 1:25 p.m. Monday and passed a note demanding money to a teller, authorities said. She ran off after getting cash, police said.
Rigby’s arrest came one day after police released bank surveillance photos of the suspect. The robber wore a blue-patterned skirt, a black jacket, white gloves, a dark scarf around her head and sunglasses, police said.
It’s not the first time Rigby has been arrested and not the first bank robbery charge.
In April of last year, she was charged with two bank robberies after leading First Precinct officers on a chase and crashing her car into a fence in West Babylon. She pleaded guilty and was sentenced to one year in prison, police said.
