Who gets internet broadband?

Long Island ranks near the top of communities in the state with access.

The U.S. Census has measured the rates of broadband internet subscriptions and Nassau County ranks second in the state, behind Putnam County, while Suffolk is tied for third with Saratoga County.

In Nassau, 87.7 percent of households had broadband internet access, and Suffolk, 85.7 percent did, according to 2013-2017 data from the Census Bureau's American Community Survey. Both counties were well above the state average of 78.9 percent and the national average of 78 percent.

Of the 94 counties in the tristate area, Nassau ranked fifth and Suffolk was tied for 11th.
