Long Island survey on health problems

Drugs and alcohol abuse were seen as the biggest ongoing health concerns in Suffolk County

Drugs and alcohol abuse were seen as the biggest ongoing health concerns in Suffolk County, with cancer coming in second. In Nassau, cancer topped the list of concerns, with drugs and alcohol landing in the second spot on the list.

Those are just two of the results in a Community Health Assessment Survey performed for the Nassau-Suffolk Hospital Council by the Long Island Health Collaborative. Here are the top five responses in each county, based on a survey of 2,677 paper and online respondents collected between Jan. 1 and Dec. 31, 2018. There were 1,664 respondents for Nassau and 810 for Suffolk. The sample of those surveyed was not necessarily representative of Long Island as a whole, and there is no margin of error.
