The Nassau County payroll surpassed the $1 billion mark in 2014, according to county records.

Three departments accounted for the lion's share of that, a Newsday database shows: the police, Nassau County Community College and Nassau County Correctional Center.

Nine employees were paid more than $500,000 for the year -- and the top 100 all made more than $300,000.

App users, tap on the first above link to see Nassau's pay info, including regular earnings, overtime and total pay. You can search by name, department and job title. (Number 5 on the list of top titles may surprise you.)

Use the second link to look up the county's 2013 salaries.
