Where students opted out of Common Core math test

At least 79,699 public school students in 100 Long Island districts refused to take a Common Core state math exam on Tuesday, May 2, 2017, in grades three through eight, opting out at a 53.1 percent rate, according to preliminary details reported by districts and compiled by Newsday reporters.

Here are details as of 6 p.m. on May 3. You can check on where students oped out of the 2017 English Language Arts test, and compare this year's math opt-outs with the 2016 math opt-outs.

Figures for some district may include students who took the Regents algebra or Regents geometry test instead of the Common Core math test. You can read more about this week's math exam here. This data was posted at 7:15 p.m. on May 2, 2017.
