Starting Wednesday, the Sagtikos State Parkway ramps to the Long Island Expressway in the Town of Islip are to be closed, weather permitting, for about four weeks during off-peak, nighttime hours, the state Department of Transportation said.
The closures will allow for preventive maintenance repairs on parkway bridges, the DOT said.
The northbound ramp to the westbound LIE at Exit S1W and the southbound ramp to the eastbound LIE at Exit S1E are to be closed Sundays through Fridays on alternating days from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m.
Also during those times, a single travel lane will be closed on LIE service roads, both westbound and eastbound, near the parkway/LIE bridge, leaving a single travel lane open.
Drivers should take alternate routes or be prepared for delays, the DOT said. Drivers are also asked to drive with care and adhere to posted work-zone speed limits.
