On April 20th, 2010, Saint John the Baptist High School will host its first Film Festival: Voices & Visions on Film. It is open to high school and middle school filmmakers across Long Island!
The focus of SJB’s 2010 Film Festival: Voices & Visions on Film - to be a challenge to young filmmakers to identify people, events, issues or programs that inspire them.
It is in both the ordinary and the extraordinary that we can be inspired. SJB’s Media Arts Director, Ms. Laura Messano, wanted the tone and topics of the St. John’s 2010 Film Festival to be both a show of talent and ideas but also to be motivating and moving to all who see and to those who create the films.
The goal is not just an opportunity to display what is possible in video but rather to use this form of communication to show the good and the possible in their world and the people around them. “It is very exciting and impressive to see the talent and ideas of young women and men expressed on film in a wide variety of formats.” stated Assistant Principal, Ms. Nan Doherty. T
his first annual Film Festival will provide a great venue to display the many gifts and ideas of student filmmakers across Long Island.
