6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Archer Street, Bayview Avenue, Leo F. Giblyn, Columbus Avenue and Caroline G. Atkinson schools and the Field House.

The district proposes a $175,028,809 budget for 2017-18, a 2.87 percent increase over the current $170,138,538. The tax levy would decrease 0.09 percent, from $87,125,440 to $87,047,027.

This decrease is within the state’s tax-cap limit of 0.98 percent, so a simple majority will be required to approve the budget.

The amount of taxes paid on a single-family house would decrease 0.71 percent, from $7,013 to $6,963.

The proposed budget includes a 1.25 percent salary increase and a 0.85 percent step increase for teachers. It would add 10 teachers, six teaching assistants, one teacher aide and two athletic coaches.

A proposition would authorize creation of a $25 million capital reserve fund for facilities improvements, including classroom upgrades and renovations, and auditorium, gymnasium, cafeteria and other renovations.

Incumbents Ronald Ellerbe and Vilma Lancaster are running unopposed for two at-large seats. Terms are three years.
