Northport-East Northport School District forum on capital project tonight

The Northport-East Northport School District will host a community forum at 7 p.m. Tuesday at the W.J. Brosnan Building cafeteria on a proposed capital project bond referendum that, if approved, will provide upgrades to several buildings and fields.

The project aims to replace aging infrastructure, improve and modernize classroom space and provide students and the community with improved physical education and athletic facilities.

Some of the projects include renovating and improving the fields and other athletic facilities at the high school and at both middle schools, upgrading science classrooms in the district, and a host of other repairs at district elementary schools such as repaving parking lots and driveways.

There is no date or resolution set. School officials are still determining the scope of work but the overall budget is estimated at about $39 million, they said.
