Syosset school district

6 a.m. to 9 p.m. Tuesday at Robbins Lane Elementary School, H.B. Thompson Middle School and Syosset High School.

The district proposes a $219,860,188 budget for 2016-17, a 1.98 percent increase from the current $215,585,452. The tax levy would increase by 0.14 percent, from $187,388,069 to $187,650,187.

This increase is lower than the district’s tax-cap limit of 0.30 percent, so just a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget. The estimated amount of school taxes the owner of an average single-family home would pay under the proposed budget was not available, according to the district.

The proposed budget funds a contractual increase of 1 percent and a half-step increase for teachers. It does not include any cuts in programs or services.

Incumbents Tracy Frankel, Rob Gershon, and Susan Parker are running unopposed for three at-large seats. Terms are three years.
