The district proposes a $20,167,600 budget for 2017-18, a 5.25 percent increase from the current $19,161,893. The tax levy would increase by 4.28 percent, from $17,451,407 to $18,197,831.

This increase is within the district’s tax-cap limit of 5.01 percent, so a simple majority vote is required to approve the budget.

Taxes on the average single-family home would decrease by 8.8 percent, from $7,353.73 to $6,706.61.

The budget includes a contract increase of 1 percent for teachers, with no other staff or program changes planned.

Voters also will be asked to approve two annual propositions, one to levy $55,000 to fund the district’s participation in the Southampton Youth Association and another to levy $7,800 to fund the district’s participation in the Parrish Art Museum.
