2 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday at Wainscott School.
The district proposes a $3,036,916 budget for 2016-17, a 0.9 percent decrease from the current $3,064,360. The tax levy would decrease by 1.16 percent, from $2,364,360 to $2,336,916. This amount is within the district’s tax-cap limit of a 0.7 percent increase, so a simple majority vote will be required to approve the budget.
The district is not providing an estimate of the amount of the school tax on the average single-family house because residential property values within the district vary widely, Superintendent Stuart Rachlin said.
The proposed budget would increase salaries for all employees by 3 percent, including a step increase. It does not call for any reductions in teachers or other staff.
Voters also will decide whether to allow the district to enter into contracts with the East Hampton and Sag Harbor school districts to educate district children in grades four through six. A separate proposition asks voters to allow the district to enter into contracts with the East Hampton and Sag Harbor districts to educate district children in grades seven through 12.
