LI cops report dozens of DWI arrests

Long Island's police agencies are reporting dozens of arrests for drunken driving during the Labor Day holiday weekend.

As of Sunday morning, Nassau police reported 30 DWI arrests since Friday at 7 p.m., while Suffolk police reported 43 DWI arrests since 4 p.m. on Friday. Neither agency reported any arrests for drunken boating.

Southold town police reported eight DWI arrests since Saturday night, while State Police in Southampton reported seven DWI arrests in that area. Glen Cove police reported one DWI arrest on Friday night.

Local police typically step up such enforcement efforts over the Labor Day weekend.
