A house on Oak Street in Amityville was heavily damaged Saturday night when a fire spread from the first floor to upper floors as firefighters from three departments battled the blaze in high winds. Firefighters from departments in Amityville, North Amityville and Copiague arrived at the house about 11 p.m. and fought the blaze in below freezing temperatures for about 2 hours. There were no reported injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation. The home was unoccupied at the time of the fire. (Dec. 29, 2012)

The Patchogue Fire Deptartment responded to a fire that damaged a number of units at the "Northwood Village Apartments" off Montauk Highway in Patchogue. A two-car garage at a house located on Oak Street in Copiague that Suffolk police said was converted into living space went up in flames around 12:45 a.m. Tuesday.There were two beds inside the garage but no one was sleeping in the beds at the time, police said. The cause under investigation but police said it does not appear to be suspicious. The Copaigure Fire Department responded, and the Lindenhurst Fire Department assisted at the scene. (dec. 25, 2012)

Firefighters arrived at 12:35 a.m. and bought the fire under control in about 30 minutes but the house suffered significant damage. Hicksville, NY - The Hicksville Fire Department was called to a reported building fire at the intersection of Old Country Road and Newbridge Road. When units arrived they had a fullyl involved fire at the BP Gas Station with several cars inside the auto body shop on fire as well. Firefighters from approximately six departments responded to the scene to battle the fire which was brought under control in about an hour. There were several serious injuries and the cause of the fire is under investigation.

Although the fire was brought under control quickly the house suffered moderate damage. While searching the home firefighters found and rescued several dogs, all of which seemed to be uninjured. The garbage truck was nearly done with it's route and was full of garbage when the fire was noticed. The truck was fully involved, including the two large propane tanks that power the vehicle when Massapequa firefighters arrived with two engines and a ladder truck. The East Brentwood Fire Department was called to a Nostrand Avenue home just after 4:00 a.m. for a fast moving house fire that has left seven people and numerous animals homeless. When firefighters arrived the house was fully involved, with all occupants that were home out safely. Firefighters from East Brentwood, Brentwood, Commack and Central Islip fought the fire for about 90 minutes before bringing it under control. The firefighters were hampered by unsafe conditions in the house due to a large amount of clutter, forcing them to fight the fire from the outside. The house was so heavily damaged that it was torn down by the Town of Islip. There were no serious injuries reported and the cause is under investigation by the Suffolk County Police Arson Squad. Copiague, Sunday, April 15, 2012 - The Copiague Fire Department was called to 10 Buchanan Avenue about 5:00 p.m. for a reported house fire. Units arrived to find the second floor of the house heavily involved and the home owner outside uninjured. The house was extensively damaged on the second floor and attic area as the fire went through the roof. The fire was brought under control in about an hour with no reported injuries, although one pet cat was lost in the fire. The Amityville Fire Department assisted at the scene and the cause is under investigation.
