Trains on time, or close, after eastbound delays caused by signal trouble

The Long Island Rail Road said signal trouble that caused delays during the morning rush hour Monday has been remedied and should not impact the evening rush hour.

LIRR spokesman Aaron Donovan said the trouble, in an area east of the East River tunnels the railroad uses to access Penn Station, caused delays to dozens of trains between 8 a.m. and about 10:45 a.m.

He said most of the trains affected were eastbound.

The cause of the trouble was not immediately known and remains under investigation.
