The LIRR is adding extra trains on New Year's Eve and New Year's Day and banning alcohol for a 24-hour period.

Eleven extra eastbound trains out of Penn Station will be available Tuesday afternoon, the railroad said.

Twenty extra westbound trains to Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal will be added to accommodate New Year's Eve revelers and those who plan to attend Billy Joel's New Year's Eve concert at Barclays Center in Brooklyn.

Eighteen extra eastbound trains will be available during the early morning hours on Wednesday, New Year's Day, out of Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal, the Long Island Rail Road said.

"The eastbound trains from Atlantic Terminal will not depart until 20 minutes after the Billy Joel concert ends," the LIRR said in a statement.

The LIRR also announced an alcohol ban, as it has in recent years, for all of its trains, stations and platforms, from noon Tuesday through noon on New Year's Day.
