Train service on the Long Island Rail Road's Port Washington Branch was temporarily cut in half Wednesday as the LIRR made emergency track repairs.
The LIRR said it expected to resume full service in time for the evening rush hour.
Because of a necessary repair to a broken switch east of Great Neck station, the LIRR is operating hourly service, instead of half-hourly, in both directions on the Port Washington Branch until 3:40 p.m.
In total, six westbound and six eastbound trains will be canceled and combined with other trains.
