LIRR service suspended after person struck by train in Queens

LIRR service is temporarily suspended in both directions to and from Penn Station and Atlantic Terminal after a train hit and killed a person east of the Queens Village station, officials said.

Sal Arena, a spokesman for the Long Island Rail Road, said the train involved was the 4:48 p.m. westbound train from Ronkonkoma scheduled to arrive at Penn Station at 6:08 p.m.

Fire departments are on the scene.

The victim has not been identified.
