LIRR: Trains into Penn mostly on time after scattered delays

Most Long Island Rail Road trains were running on or close to schedule Tuesday morning after earlier scattered delays of about 10 minutes on trains headed for Penn Station.

Railroad spokesman Aaron Donovan said the delays were caused by signal trouble outside the East River tunnels that was reported at 9:25 a.m. The railroad reported in an alert that it was back to normal as of 9:45 a.m.

The LIRR said in an alert at about 9:25 a.m. that the delays were also caused by residual congestion due to earlier signal trouble at Mineola.
