Long Island Rail Road trains were on or close to schedule about 10 a.m. after earlier delays during Thursday's morning commute.
A disabled Amtrak train in one of the East River tunnels caused delays of 10 to 15 minutes on westbound LIRR trains during Thursday's morning commute, the rail service said.
The train became disabled at about 8 a.m. and was cleared from the tunnel at about 8:30 a.m., according to an LIRR spokeswoman, who said residual delays were likely for the rest of the morning.
Up until the train was cleared about 28 trains had been delayed, three more were canceled and two were diverted, the spokeswoman said. The LIRR sent at least three email alerts between 8 and 8:45 a.m. about the delays, notifying customers that NYC Transit was cross-honoring LIRR fares.
