Long Island on Wednesday gets partly sunny skies with afternoon temperatures reaching 68 degrees at Long Island MacArthur Airport, the National Weather Service said.

Southwest winds are from 9 to 15 mph.

For Nassau and western Suffolk, there’s an elevated risk through 7 p.m. for the spread of brushfires, the National Weather Service said in a special statement. That’s due to wind gusts up to 25 mph, drying fuel sources and relative humidity values of 20 to 30 percent, the service said.

News 12 Long Island meteorologist Rich Hoffman said temperatures for about the next seven days will remain above normal for this time of year.

He said there’s a chance of rain Friday, but Easter Sunday will be dry.

Clouds continue Wednesday night and into Thursday. Overnight lows in the mid 40s give way to a breezy Thursday with highs expected in the mid to upper 50s.

Rain is also in the forecast, the weather service said, for Thursday night into Friday.
