A man who was hit by a Long Island Rail Road train in Brooklyn early Sunday has died of his injuries, an MTA spokesman said.
Spokesman Aaron Donovan said the unidentified man, 33, was struck at 12:24 a.m. at the East New York station. The man was taken to Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center in East New York, where he was pronounced dead at 1:13 a.m., Donovan said.
Officials are investigating the cause of the collision, but Donovan said it appeared the man was struck while he attempted to move from one platform to another across the tracks.
Passengers on the affected train, which had left Far Rockaway at 11:44 p.m. and was due at Atlantic Terminal at 12:35 a.m., were transferred to the subway. Service was suspended on the line from Atlantic Terminal to Jamaica, Queens, during the investigation, but has since been restored.
