Reports from county or village police, March 14-20


The hood of a vehicle on Duane Lane was discovered damaged March 14.

East Garden City

A pocketbook containing credit cards was stolen March 20 from a shopping cart on Stewart Avenue.

A stereo, gear shift knob, $40, an iPod and a GPS unit were stolen March 16 from a vehicle on Old Country Road.

Glen Cove

A 40-year-old man was arrested on March 16 and charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance and criminal sale of a controlled substance.

A man, 34, was arrested on Willets Road March 20 and charged with petit larceny.

A 59-year-old man was arrested March 18 on Tappanwood Drive and charged with menacing.


A GPS unit was stolen March 15 from a vehicle parked on Old Country Road.


A GPS unit was stolen from an unlocked vehicle on Lace Lane March 19.

A Toyota parked on Washington Avenue was damaged by a unknown person with a baseball bat March 19.

The rear passenger side window of a 1988 Volvo was discovered damaged while parked on Butler Street March 19.



A burglary was discovered March 14 at a residence on Southwood Lane. Entry was gained through an unlocked rear garage door. Cash and jewelry were stolen.


Two registers and two cash boxes were discovered stolen from A Touch of Italy on Grand Avenue on March 16. Entry was made through a rear door.

A 2008 Nissan Maxima was stolen from the driveway of a Marilyn Lane residence March 20.


The passenger side window of a vehicle parked in the L.A. Fitness lot on Broadhollow Road was smashed March 14. A handbag was stolen from inside the vehicle and later recovered in a Dumpster at a nearby Wendy's restaurant. Cash was missing from the handbag.

EAST MEADOW Jewelry was stolen from a residence on Fairview Avenue March 16. A rear window was smashed to gain entry.


A Dix Hills man, 27, was arrested March 19 on East Chestnut Street and charged with two counts of burglary, criminal mischief and possession of burglary tools. He was allegedly observed running from the rear of a strip mall on Sunrise Highway. Police say they stopped him as he entered his vehicle and he had a black bag containing bolt cutters and a crowbar.


A unknown man stole an undetermined amount of money from a TD Bank on Old Country Road March 20. The suspect entered the bank and demanded cash from a teller.
