Nassau and Suffolk anniversaries

60thCLAIRE AND FRANK VERDI of Baldwin were married Feb. 25, 1950. They celebrated their anniversary at an Italian restaurant in Oakdale with their two children, five grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

CAMILLE AND MIKE FORTE of Syosset were married Nov. 29, 1952. They met at the Brooklyn ice skating rink in March 1951. They lived in an apartment in Ozone Park before they moved to Syosset. Mike and Camille have fundraised for several charitable organizations. Mike coached boys and girls baseball teams and joined the Knights of Columbus and became a fourth degree knight. He is also active in the VFW. He had a vending machine route for 35 years. Camille was an X-ray technician for 26 years. They have four children and eight grandchildren.

PEGGY AND JERRY HENDEL of Deer Park were married Jan. 30, 1960. They celebrated at a Mass at Saints Cyril & Methodius Church in Deer Park. Their children hosted a dinner party in their honor at Tutto Pazzo restaurant in Huntington. They have six children and seven grandchildren.

JOSEPHINE AND FRED SCHMIDT of East Northport celebrated Jan. 23 with a renewal of vows at St. Anthony of Padau Church in East Northport and at a surprise party hosted by their three children. A cruise to the Panama Canal is planned. The couple were childhood sweethearts. Fred is a Marine Corps veteran. He is retired from the Incorporated Village of Northport. They have seven grandchildren.

STEPHANIE AND MICHAEL IANNONE of North Babylon celebrated Jan. 9 with a renewal of vows at Saints Cyril & Methodius Church in Deer Park. A reception followed at Leonard's of Great Neck. They have two children and three grandchildren.

KATHY AND RICHARD JOHNSON of Levittown were married March 7, 1970, at St. Margaret's Church in Middle Village. They will be celebrating with a cruise in May from Venice to the Greek Islands. Rich is a retired New York City Police Department lieutenant, and Kathy is retired from Carnival Cruise Lines. They have two children and six grandchildren.
