Nassau and Suffolk anniversaries, Feb. 9, 2014


HOLZKAMP of Glen Head were wed Nov. 23, 1963, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Glen Cove. They celebrated in August with family at Crystal Brook resort in Round Top, N.Y. In November, they had a blessing at Trinity Church in Roslyn, followed by a luncheon at Cedar Creek in Glen Cove given by their three children and five grandchildren. Barbara is a retired elementary school teacher from the Locust Valley school district. Bill owns Colonial Heritage Custom Furniture in Glen Cove.

50thENID AND JIM D'ARRIGOof Melville were wed Jan. 23, 1964. They celebrated with family and friends in Delray Beach, Fla. Enid retired as assistant superintendent of schools for curriculum and instruction with the Oceanside school district. Jim is a retired hospital account representative for Eli Lilly & Co. on Long Island. They have two daughters and three grandchildren.

50thCONSTANCE MARIE AND FRANK J. MERKLE JR.of Medford were wed Jan. 19, 1964, in Richmond Hill, Queens. A Florida vacation is planned. Frank enjoys golf and Constance enjoys reading. They have three daughters and five grandchildren.


SURLESS of East Meadow were wed Oct. 5, 1963, at Holy Family Church in Hicksville. They celebrated at a special Mass at St. Rose of Lima Church in Massapequa, followed by a family dinner. James is the safety manager for the Queens Public Library system and fire commissioner of the East Meadow Fire Department. Joanne is a bookkeeper for the Nassau County Girl Scouts and treasurer of the East Meadow Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary. They are active members of Saint Raphael R.C. Church. They have four children and six grandchildren.

45thMARGARET (MICKEY) AND KEVIN DINEENof Amityville, were wed Dec. 21, 1968, at St. Barnabas R.C. Church in Bellmore. They celebrated by attending an Elton John concert at Madison Square Garden. Margaret is a retired fourth-grade teacher at Southwest Elementary School in Brentwood. Kevin is a retired teacher from John Glenn High School in Elwood. They have two children and five grandchildren.


PORTUESE of Bethpage were wed Jan. 14, 1989, at St. Martin of Tours Church in Bethpage. They share a combined family of nine children, their spouses, 22 grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
