Nassau County anniversaries, Feb. 14

50thREGINA AND JOSEPH BAKOTA of Merrick were wed on Nov. 14, 1959, at Good Shepherd Church in Brooklyn. They celebrated their anniversary with a party at the Swan Club in Roslyn with family and friends and a trip to Spain. Joseph is a retired vice president of Citibank and Regina is a retired registered nurse with South Oaks Hospital in Amityville. Regina volunteers with various ministries at Curé of Ars parish in Merrick and at the A. Holly Patterson facility in Uniondale, and Joseph is a musician for the RSVP (Retired Senior Volunteer Program) of Nassau County. They have four daughters and seven grandchildren.

MARGARET AND ALFRED HESSE of Bayville were married on Oct. 24, 1959, at St. Gertrude's Church in Bayville and renewed their vows there on their anniversary. They hosted a reception for more than 100 guests at the Milleridge Inn, where they had their original reception. Alfred is retired from the Ford Motor Co. and Margaret is a C.R.N.A. (certified registered nurse anesthetist). Alfred was a trustee for the village of Bayville and deputy mayor. Margaret was involved in many community organizations. They have one son and two grandchildren.

BETTY AND JOHN DETTORI of Massapequa Park were married Jan. 23, 1960. They celebrated with a renewal of vows at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Massapequa Park, followed by a party at Mario's restaurant in Hauppauge. John is a retired teacher from Plainedge school district and a Korean War Navy veteran. They have four children and 12 grandchildren.

50th

JOAN AND KARL MEYER of Holbrook and Coconut Creek, Fla., were married Dec. 27, 1959. They celebrated with a brunch at Lombardi's on the Bay in Patchogue. A trip to Italy is planned. Joan is a retired elementary school teacher and had a second career in social services. Karl retired from his private practice as a doctor of optometry. They have three children and three grandchildren.

50th

MARY AND RICHARD PIROLA of East Northport celebrated Jan. 23. Their children surprised them with a party at La Villini in East Northport. They have three children and five grandchildren.
