Nassau police are searching for a robbery suspect who made off with proceeds from two bank heists occurring 20 minutes apart Tuesday afternoon in Oceanside and Rockville Centre.

Major Case Bureau detectives said a man entered a Citibank branch at 297 Merrick Rd. in Rockville Centre about 1:20 p.m., handed a teller a demand note and left the bank with an undisclosed amount of cash. He then used the same mode of operation at 1:40 p.m. at the Roslyn Savings Bank branch at 3140 Long Beach Rd. in Oceanside and left with a bag of cash.

The suspect was described by police as in his mid- to late 20s, about 5 feet, 5 inches tall with a thin build, and wearing sunglasses, a white T-shirt, black jeans, black and white sneakers, and carrying a black drawstring bag.
