Two Brooklyn men and a Queens man were arrested late Tuesday morning, charged with kidnapping, robbery and weapon possession, moments after Nassau County police foiled their attempted robbery of a Baldwin store, police said.
Cory Elliott, 22, of 110-51 Guy R. Brewer Blvd., Queens, and Jonathan Bryant, 20, of 660 Gates Ave., and Dominique Navarro, 21, of 18 Linden St., both in Brooklyn, were charged with second-degree kidnapping, first-degree and second-degree robbery, first-degree criminal use of a firearm and second-degree and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, police said.
Police said the trio entered the Radio Shack store on Grand Avenue late Tuesday morning and that at least one of the men displayed a handgun as an employee was tied up and taken to the rear of the store. But police said they were notified of the robbery in progress and said responding officers interrupted the trio as they were gathering the store's electronic merchandise.
It was not clear if police received a 911 call about the robbery or if officers responded to a store alarm.
Seeing the officers, the robbers fled, police said. But they were quickly located nearby and arrested, police said. Police said the suspects took cash from a register during the robbery.
Police said no one was injured during the robbery.
Elliott, Bryant and Navarro all are scheduled for arraignment Wednesday in First District Court in Hempstead.
