Just over a dozen PSEG Long Island customers were out of power Monday night, down from 300 customers Monday afternoon, after fierce winds over the weekend knocked down trees and power lines.
PSEG Long Island spokeswoman Elizabeth Flagler said the utility had expected most customers affected by the gusting winds to have their power restored by noon Monday.
As of 10 p.m. Monday, just 13 customers were without power, according to the PSEG Long Island website.
Earlier Sunday, about 10,000 customers in Nassau and Suffolk counties had no power, as wind gusts of up to 45 mph blustered across Long Island.
Jeffrey Weir, a PSEG Long Island spokesman, said Sunday extra crews, including some brought in from PSEG New Jersey, would work "into the overnight" to restore power.
